You do realize that XHTML1.x uses the exact same elements as HTML4 and the exact same processing model and therefore has mostly the same problems? The only theoretical differences with XHTML1.x which doesn't apply to your site as it doesn't use an XML MIME type is that XHTML1.x is parsed using an XML parser and HTML (much like your site) is parsed with an HTML parser.
