Finally ColdFusion 8 (code named Scorpio) has come out of Beta and onto the shelves of the world, bringing with it joys to ColdFusion developers everywhere. I have discussed elements of ColdFusion 8 previously in passing (in relation to WebDU07). As expected Adobe is now going to start ramping up on the ColdFusion sales pitch, which is fair enough, they are a software company out to make money.

Now I like ColdFusion its simple but very powerful, it’s like the Apple MAC of the web software world, it doesn’t get in the way when you are coding, it just works.

Coming off the hype of BarCamp Perth in early July was when people in Perth found the PodCamp proposal. This instantly attracted the attention of the Web and related new media industries in Perth.

Podcamp has been proposed by Jared Madden of Indimedia and Adam Purcell of redPIXEL. However at the time of release of the proposal there was not a lot of information about the background or credentials of the people behind Podcamp; well to people in Perth. So what do we know about the organisers. Let’s look at the simple things:

I first heard of this book (The Art and Science of CSS) via Twitter when Jina Bolton was getting all excited about the first press copies in March 2007. Also having Andrew Krespanis as the Technical Editor, I know it would be good, as least technically. Like a lot of books these days this book is broken up into several chapters with separate sections written by each of the authors Cameron Adams, Jina Bolton, David Johnson, Steve Smith and Jonathan Snook.

It’s been making a noise in Sydney, and Melbourne. Now it’s time for Perth to take it up a notch. Turn the amps up to eleven, it’s time for a . In association with the Australian Web Industry Association, Mr Super “Events” Man Myles Eftos has managed to talk Lachlan Hardy, Lisa Herrod and Tim Lucas into bringing WebJam to Perth.
