lol well, if you’re laying the smack down, one could make the remark that it’s not actually ABOUT Awards…

Mine has been going since before Blogger and Wordpress even existed and I have never even considered having it “judged”. But it was used as an example in a media studies class, which I found very, very awesome

Thanks Myles. Yeah, I hardly consider EnjoyPerth a blog, it’s mostly just the software. I’ll have a look at media, but then the launched or relaunched thing probably counts again…

And yeah, what Gary said :p I had once heard of the idea relaxing the criteria for the blog category… but yeah, not on paper anywhere

@Myles – Humm not being critical of the WA Web Awards, but making rule clarifications like this on the run can be dangerous and does reflect on the professional standard of the awards. Things like this should be stated very clearly on the site when nominations open not sometime later two weeks before the closing date.

As content is king here, we’ll relax the “Must be launched, re-launched” rule for the blog category. Details of this will be on the site soon.

Note though, that we ARE differentiating between blog sites and sites that run on blog software. So something like Read/Write Web or Inquisitor would not be considered a blog in our eyes – it would be a media site.

Not launched or relaunched, and also doubt it would validate (have tested in the past).
I can’t think of any good blogs that have launched or relaunched. Well, ok, maybe if a design change counts, like yours. But even those would be very scarce. Not saying there aren’t any, but I can’t think of them…
I should have spoken up when we could comment about categories and judging etc….. but I’m not sure about the launch or relaunch in last financial year criteria for blogs.. But (thinking out loud here), I guess otherwise you would have the same blogs enter every year… maybe… but does that matter. Argh, I dunno, I don’t have the brainpower right now to think that through more, need some sleep!
