Lego Mini figures and PDF accessibility

You know the story. Your client or boss wants to put a report online, it’s just a few pages long, but they want exact print output control of the document or they just want to ensure that the cost is kept to a minimum. So you end up putting the document online as a PDF. Now I ask you is it really readable by everyone. That is normal viewers, assistative technology viewers, search engine bots and viewers in remote areas on slow connections. I can bet that in most cases one of these groups is missing out

BarCampPerth - The WordPress Loop

Well today BarCamp came to Perth. Finally we the people on the West Coast of Australia got to have a BarCamp.

And once again I stepped up to the podium (not that we had any). Not once but twice. In true BarCamp style a presentation panel was thrown together in a mad hurry on the topic of “Start a Web Business” with Steven Hambleton, Miles Burke and Rosemary Lynch and myself. Of course we went overtime, and of course people wanted more so with half the talk done we moved to an afternoon slot.

Business Networking without Wires

People in the web industry have often complained that they hate traditional marketing, hate cold calling, and dread using a sales team. Or themselves becoming the salesmen they despise. So what’s left that you can do to promote yourself in the business or career arena professionally. Well the only thing is networking. “Okay?!” you’re all gasping, “but networking is really bad worse than cold calling”. Well maybe you have it all wrong.
